How kaal works

1. Someone hosting an event — a housewarming, a wedding, a Pradosham — sends you a link. That link is your invitation. Events are not listed or searchable on this site, so the only way to reach one is to have been sent it.
2. Opening it shows the event: what it is, when it starts in the time zone it is actually held in, and where.
3. You sign in with an account you already have, at Microsoft or Google, and say whether you are coming and how many people you are bringing. You can come back and change your answer at any time — the latest answer is the one the host sees.

Why signing in is needed, and what it shares

Signing in attaches your response to an address you have proved you control. That is what lets you return and change your answer instead of leaving a second response behind, and it is what stops anyone else from viewing or altering your answer by typing your name.

Your email address is the only thing kaal takes from your Microsoft or Google account. It is used to file your response, to show your response back to you, and to tell the host of that one event who is coming. The sign-in also returns your name, and from Google a profile picture — neither library lets an app ask for less — and kaal discards both rather than storing them. kaal never sees your password, never reads your mail or contacts, and never posts anything anywhere.

There are no adverts, no analytics and no tracking on this site. Your address is not sold, rented or shared beyond the host of the event you responded to.
